What do you believe happens when one of Jehovah's Witnesses dies? Do they go to hell?

Just like Charles Russell, I find the concept of a literal Hell to be disgusting and contrary to the idea of a loving God.

I believe that when JW's die they enter a state of non-existence, essentially they're in the same exact condition they existed in before they were born.

Do you agree with the Watchtower's current teaching on who will be destroyed at Armageddon? If you do, my next question is: Why would Jehovah God murder babies at Armageddon, babies that simply aren't physically able of comprehending the message of Jehovah's Kingdom and therefore incapable of accepting or rejecting that message? I'm aware of the fact that you've only been studying Watchtower teachings for two years, but I'm still sincerely interested in your opinion on this issue.

Do you feel that killing children and babies is something that a loving God would do? If so, please explain.

Change Name, I appreciate your contributions to the forum. I can tell that you're a courageous person that's really interested in truth, otherwise I don't suspect that you would be investigating the Watchtower's history in such detail. Some on the forum may lash out at you, but you'll have to forgive them. The actions of the Watchtower and its corporate policy enforcers have caused much pain and sorrow to many families. Lashing out is understandable considering the emotions involved.

Back to question #1. I don't believe that Russell was Freemason, nor do I believe this is a very common view either. Don't you think perhaps this is a straw-man argument you've created? Are you humble and honest enough to admit that the statement about the pyramid monument at Russell's gravesite being a directory for those buried in the lot is in fact a falsehood? I'm curious if this was intentional deception on your part, or merely just a mistake made out of zeal to defend Russell's honor. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume the later. You've confirmed that Russell was a pyramidologist, so we can move on.

Question #2. It seems like we're splitting hairs. You've admitted that the Watchtower signed up as a NGO, but you don't prefer to call it "joining" the UN. I understand the quibbling over terminology, but if we want to speak as accurate and truthfully as possible, it must be noted that the Watchtower Corporation was officially an "Associate Member of the United Nations Department of Public Information". During the time the Watchtower was signed up as a NGO didn't they print pro-UN articles in their publications? How do you honestly feel about the Watchtower printing articles that promoted and praised the work being performed by the scarlet colored wild beast of Revelation? Shouldn't that bother our Bible trained consciences just a little bit?

So what exactly woke you up to the true nature of the Watchtower? Behavior of witnesses, a particular doctrine, or was it a slow realization over time? I'm always curious what triggers people to see behind the Watchtower curtain, so that I can better help my family members that are still ensnared in the cult.

Were you born in, or a convert?

Kauai is a beautiful place. I spent about two weeks there on vacation, absolutely loved it. But I couldn't shake the feeling that if I lived there I would probably get island fever very quickly.

I've never claimed Russell was a Freemason, mostly because there doesn't appear to be any substantial evidence that he was one. How do you define "pyramidologist", because based on the actual writings of Russell, I'd have to say that he was a pyramidologist.

The argument that he can't be a pyramidologist because he borrowed the idea from someone else is quite absurd once you stop and think about it.

Change Name, don't try and hit and run with this thread.

In your opinion, on what basis could someone be called a pyramidologist?

The pyramid monument is a directory for those buried in the lot.

a few days ago i watch the old bill murray movie "what about bob" with my family and realized that i'm in the same situation as dr. leo marvin (played by richard dreyfus).

for those who have never seen this movie, dr. marvin is a psychiatrist who is unable to shake off an obsessed patient who manages to track him down during his family vacation.

the patient befriends the family who see him like a charming man, when in fact he is driving dr. leo crazy.

Former Bethelites, please settle this argument

i was recently talking to a friend that's a former jw, and she argued that there are just as many women that live at bethel as there are men.

admittedly, we're both slightly ignorant on the subject, since neither of us have actually lived at or even visited bethel.

i've made the assumption that there are significantly more men than women at bethel, am i correct?.

Advertising the REAL Jehovah's Witnesses when I can...

today, my wife went to labcorp to take a pre-employment drug screening.

she doesnt have a driver's license, so i took her.. in the waiting room, with the magazines were a copy of atalaya (watchtower) and despertad (awake).

it'd be nice to think they were left by a jw who decided then and there that she'd had enough of the lies, but from what i gathered on jwn, it was probably a lazy publisher counting it as perpetual service hours.. anyway, on the back of both, i left the message "for more information about jehovah's witnesses please google candace conti.".

I do the same thing when I encounter Watchtower publications.

Politely writing, "For more information about Jehovah's Witnesses please visit JWFACTS.COM" on the cover accomplishes a lot more than simply throwing them in the recycling bin.
